This version's translation by Damion Searls is dumbed down and stale So disappointing to know this version may mean that others miss out on Herman Hesse's original voice and intentions because this novel is one of my ask time favorites.. Melinda said Introspective classic. Herman Hesse is like coming home. I was fascinated to learn this predates Siddhartha and that it is not better known as it seems to surpass even the subtle introspective epiphanies in that novel.
