Another gem I was recommended by from alternative fiction lists, this one certainly can't be said is a book for everyone. The world is muddled with corporate backstabbing and political mind games, morals exist squarely in the greyest of grey zones, and Val Toreth is probably not a man any sane man or woman would take home to introduce to the family. But dare to delve a little deeper and this book will grip you in tight, paperbound claws, and refuse to let go! Sly corporate director Keir . great characters, interesting plotand hot! These are interesting characters--complicated and compelling despite (or because of?) their considerable flaws. The book is very well plotted, blending sci-fi, mystery, and romance seamlessly and compellingly. The development of the relationship between the two main characters is handled deftly and is one of the book's strongest points. Sex scenes are well written, explicit, and also never fail to advance the plot. A fun read!. "Must read" according to Rose. I highly recommend this book. I love how the author created a world where torture became a bureaucratic process - with paperwork and damage waivers - and where torturers consider it like any other job. Toreth and Warrick are great complex characters, and this series is oddly addictive. The description of the sim and its potential applications, and the ethical dilemnas are thoroughly explored.
