DESCRIPTION:

You'll get pragmatic, hands-on experience writing apps in a multi-platform world. What You Need:You'll need a computer and some experience programming. You'll start out with Mobile Web; develop native apps on iOS, Android, and Windows; and finish by building apps for multiple operating systems using the native cross-platform solutions RubyMotion, React Native, and Xamarin. For each platform, you'll build simple, but non-trivial, apps that consume JSON data, run on multiple screen sizes, or store local data. Find out which cross-platform solution makes the most sense for your needs, whether you're new to mobile or an experienced developer expanding your options. It's helpful if you have access to an iPhone, Android phone, and Windows Phone to run the examples on the devices where mobile apps are ultimately deployed, but the simulators or emulator versions of those phones work great.. When we cover iOS, you'll need a Mac, and when we cover Windows Phone you'll need a computer with Windows on it. You'll compare writing apps on one platform versus another and understand the benefits and hidden costs of cross-platform tools. Start covering all of the mobile world t

Highly recommend to compare mobile platforms and capabilities! I really appreciate that this book takes different approaches on each platform - it feels like each app is an *appropriate* example!Very thorough, excellent and honest comparisons of the many mobile OS/platforms available. Highly recommend.. Amazon Customer said An essential book for all mobile technology developers. This book is pure gold when it comes to getting onboard with 7 different technologies quickly with a very practical approach. I would highly recommend this book to people. The way the author walks through building the apps in each framework he picks is very verbose and intuitive.. I really liked this book because it gives everything you may want GHajba I really liked this book because it gives everything you may want to achieve: writing native apps (iOS, Windows Phone or Android) or cross-platform apps. All the example apps are different this means you get ideas to try with the platform / solution you choose to try out (for example you want to develop with Ruby Motion but you take the steps from the Xamarin chapter's calculator app). What I really loved was the chapter about Mobile Web development: this is something everyone can achieve who knows web development -- and the solution is cross-platform.
