DESCRIPTION:
First released in 1967, Christy is based on the life of author Catherine Marshall's mother and was the inspiration for the recent television series of the same name. Yet she grows to love these people and the simple, fulfilling lifestyle to be found in the heart of God's country. --Maudeen Wachsmith. When Christy Huddleston leaves a life of privilege and ease to teach in the impoverished Smokey Mountains, her faith is severely tested by her pupils, the love of two men, and the curious customs of the mountain people in her community. Beautifully told, this is a charming, timeless tale of love and faith that will appeal to romance readers of all ages
Kathy Hoyt said One of the very best books I've read!. One of the very best books I've read! Very uplifting. It is one of those books that you just can't put down. It has a touch of good, clean romance too which is an added bonus! You definitely won't be disappointed if you get it. I ordered and read Julie which is Catherine Marshall's only other novel. It was of the same excellent quality too.. Amazon Customer said A read for all. What a beautiful compelling narrative with deep well developed characters and story lines. It gives an insight into an area you hear little about, Southern Appalachia and the Great Smoky Mountains with it's traditions and people. As a side note, I checked the box "some violence" only in context with the story line. There are some menacing characters and life situations.. Catherine E Pierce said Disappointed!. The cover that is shown for this book is not the actual picture. I wanted the photo shown and look at many before I found the book with the one I wanted. Seems to me the photo that is actually on the should also be the one advertised! False/misleading if you ask me. Very disappointed.
The beloved story of Christy with never-before-published memorabilia from the Catherine Marshall estate.
