Get to Know the Man Terrence R Mendyk I would like to recommend this book for people who want to get to know the man - Orde Wingate. This is exactly what I was looking for. If you are looking for a detailed account of the Chindit operations in Burma during WWII this is not the book for you. You can find that in any number of other publications. Leaders like Wingate however have always fascinate me. England produces a category of Officer that I do not think would be tolerated in any other army. They could be categorized as eccentric – as they often are – but they are also brilliant and non-conformative – in a profession that insists on . Some of his arguments surrounding the Chindits strike this reviewer as rather shaky, but overall his writing is very interesting. Ideally, it would be combined with other book
